Aramauca
SELVA is our international program of artist residencies with immersion in the Lacandon Jungle. The quota is limited to 5 artists for each season.
The residence program lasts 5 weeks and includes: Exploration trips in the state of Chiapas to the Sumidero Canyon, the Archaeological Zone of Tonina, indigenous towns such as San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan, the colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo and El Chiflon waterfalls. It includes camping in the Lacandon jungle (Selva Lacandona) with tours and guided walks with Lacandones and excursions on Lake Naha.

There are workshops by personalities of the contemporary art world (national and international guests), studio visits, meetings with local artists, guided tours of cultural centers, museums and workshops of in the city of San Cristobal de Las Casas. Lodging is in comfortable individual rooms (shared bathrooms) with use of the common areas of the Aramauca space.
RESIDENCY DURATION / TIME PERIOD
Sessions of 5 weeks. Dates are not predetermined but are nominated by the applicant.

APPLICATIONS
There is not applications fee.
Applications are juried by a rotating, international committee of five professional artists, curators, collectors, and authors who serve anonymously.
